Government Declares National Cleanliness Week

The government has decided to conduct a nationwide ‘National Cleanliness Week’ from 28th Baishakh to 8th Jestha. Health and Population Minister Nisha Mehta inaugurated the cleanliness campaign at Bir Hospital. During this period, government offices, health institutions, and educational establishments will focus not only on cleaning but also on repairing and repainting information boards and walls.

On 28th Baishakh in Kathmandu, the government launched this nationwide cleanliness campaign to institutionalize sanitation within government bodies and public organizations. Minister Nisha Mehta initiated the campaign by leading a cleaning drive at Bir Hospital on Monday.

The government has decided that from Monday through 8th Jestha, cleanliness activities will be carried out across government offices, health facilities, and educational institutions under the federal, provincial, and local levels.

Minister Mehta emphasized the need to transform cleanliness into a daily practice. She noted that Bir Hospital, being the oldest and most heavily frequented hospital in the country, was chosen as the starting point for this campaign.

Alongside cleaning, information boards, public notices, and signage in government offices will be made clear and well-organized. Damaged or peeling walls will be repaired and repainted to maintain an attractive and clean environment, especially in key service areas and entrances.
