
Deep Thing Secures Two Titles at Bagmati Province Level Badminton Competition
Deep Thing from Sindhuli claimed two titles in the inaugural Bagmati Province level badminton competition, winning both the men’s singles and the under-15 categories. The event, held in Basundhara, featured 120 players representing 13 districts from Bagmati Province. Awards were presented to the winners by Rajendra Parajuli, Executive Director of the BP Koirala Memorial Trust, and Ramchandra Pokhrel, General Secretary. (May 24, Kathmandu)
In the first edition of the “Jananayak BP Koirala Bagmati Province Level Badminton Competition–2083,” Deep Thing won titles in the men’s singles and under-15 divisions. In the men’s singles final, he defeated Saksham Dhakal of Kathmandu. The third place was shared by Sashin Dangol and Suman Shakya from Lalitpur. In the under-15 final, Deep triumphed over Rijan Magar from Lalitpur. Bipul Khadka of Chandragiri and Samanta Bhadra Bajracharya of Kirtipur both secured third place.
The senior doubles (age 50+) title was claimed by the Kathmandu pair of Prem Ghale and Subash Shrestha. They defeated their fellow Kathmandu team of Sange Sherpa and Surya Syantan in the final. The pairs of Shyam Gurung and Dewansingh Rai from Lalitpur, and Sunil Bajracharya and Bikash Shakya from Kathmandu, shared third place. In the junior under-13 girls category, Ajarenka Sherchan of Kathmandu was victorious, overcoming Ashruti Karki of Ramechhap in the final.
During the award ceremony, victorious players received their prizes from BP Koirala Memorial Trust Executive Director Rajendra Parajuli and General Secretary Ramchandra Pokhrel. Parajuli, also a director of the organizing body, stated that various initiatives have been undertaken to promote sports development and expressed a commitment to continue this competition in the future.
