Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana Plans to Form New Party, Citing Inclusion of Durga Prasai and Discontented Rastriya Prajatantra Party Members

Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana has clearly stated that he will never return to the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Accusing the leadership of having an agenda driven by personal interests, he said, “They only used the Hindu nation and monarchy to solicit votes; now there’s no future in RPP for me.” Dr. Rana, the general secretary of RPP, has announced his decision to leave the party. He cited the leadership’s exploitation of the Hindu nation and monarchy agenda purely for political gain, the failure to hold the scheduled general convention, and the toxic atmosphere within the party as reasons for his departure.

The former member of the House of Representatives and ex-mayor of Nepalgunj is preparing to launch a new party soon. His plan is to create a ‘hardline nationalist’ party that will incorporate activists like Durga Prasai along with smaller factions. He stated, “I decided to leave the party after seeing that the agenda based on our core goals and values would not be fulfilled within RPP.” According to him, the party leadership failed to achieve its stated agenda and internal toxicity only intensified.

Dr. Rana pointed out that not holding the general convention and absence of leadership changes has created significant challenges. He said, “In recent by-elections and the national election, nearly 97 percent of our candidates lost their deposits.” Emphasizing that RPP’s documents clearly reject monarchy, Hindu statehood, and federalism, he added, “I am seeking an opportunity to advance our core values and agenda by forming a new party.” Dr. Rana plans to officially announce the formation of the new party within the next 15 days.
