Congress Leader Sitaula Urges Leadership to Resolve Internal Party Conflicts Promptly

Kishnpraad Sitaula, a leader of the Nepali Congress, has called on the party leadership to swiftly resolve internal disputes and uncertainties surrounding the upcoming general convention. He described the behavior exhibited by some colleagues within the party as disgraceful and inhumane. Emphasizing the critical moment for the nation’s democracy and constitutional order, he stressed the importance of strengthening the Congress party. (31 Jestha, Biratnagar)

Addressing a program organized by another faction of the Congress in Biratnagar, Sitaula urged the leadership to demonstrate courage in settling disputes and to put an end to unnecessary ‘drama.’ He expressed dissatisfaction with the delays in convening either a special general convention or following regular procedures. Targeting party President Thapa, he remarked, “Do not be afraid of conflict; it can be resolved within 10 minutes. This courage must come from your heart.”

Recalling examples from the 9th to the 14th general conventions, Sitaula appealed that the upcoming convention be completed based on these precedents. He challenged the party leadership and officials, saying, “Whatever decisions are to be made, make them on time and collectively.” “We are democrats, and humanity should be our foundation,” Sitaula said. “Treating members of one’s own party the way illustrated yesterday is condemnable. We believe that even the most accused must be afforded due process of law, but what occurred within the party yesterday was unusual and inhumane.”

With the country’s democracy and constitutional system facing a crisis, he emphasized that Congress must resolve its internal conflicts quickly to become stronger. Sitaula called upon the leadership housed in the party office to rise above personal interests, decide on unity, and advance the general convention process transparently. He noted that for disputes within Congress to be resolved, the establishment faction must take responsibility and lead the districts as a primary path toward crisis resolution.
