Chaitra 11, Lamjung – An excavator operator died after being buried during road digging activities today in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-2, Lamjung.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipendra Kumar Basnet of the District Police Office, the deceased was approximately 20 years old Vikki Mahato, a permanent resident of Kawasoti Municipality-12, Nawalpur (Bardaghat Susta East). He was buried along with the excavator while widening the Bhache-Bhadure road section.

A landslide including stones caused the burial. Though rescued and taken to the Province Hospital in Besishahar for treatment, doctors declared him dead.

The body of the deceased is currently kept at the hospital. The police have informed the family members and will conduct a post-mortem examination after their arrival, scheduled for Thursday. Meanwhile, the police continue with further investigations into the incident.
