File photo, 2 Asar, Kathmandu. The World Peace and Spiritual Society is set to organize the first-ever yoga practice program at Kailash–Manasarovar in celebration of International Yoga Day. The society provided details about this initiative during a press conference on Monday. Society President Rajan Sharma stated that the primary goal of observing International Yoga Day in the Kailash–Manasarovar region is to establish Nepal as the land of yoga gurus. Additionally, the program aims to introduce the ancient practices of yoga, meditation, penance, and spiritual civilization to a global audience.
According to Sharma, a delegation will depart towards the region on Asar 3 to mark the occasion. On International Yoga Day, Asar 7, a collective yoga and meditation session will be conducted at Kailash–Manasarovar. He remarked, “Holding an international-level yoga and spiritual awareness event in the land considered the ascetic realm of Lord Shiva at Kailash–Manasarovar on behalf of Nepal and the Nepali community is a matter of pride for all Nepalese.”
He emphasized, “At the sacred heights of Kailash–Manasarovar and amidst the silent beauty of the Himalayas, yoga will serve not only as a practice but as a profound awakening of the soul and a sacred means toward leading life on the path of peace.” The program will feature over 100 participants, including yogis, meditation practitioners, yoga teachers, ascetics, researchers, and spiritual activists from Nepal, India, and across the world. The World Peace and Spiritual Society operates branches and practice centers in 47 countries, including Nepal, India, Qatar, Israel, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. This international yoga pilgrimage and spiritual practice at Kailash–Manasarovar is expected to enhance Nepal’s spiritual identity, promote cultural diplomacy, boost yoga tourism, elevate international reputation, and foster positive awareness among the youth.
